2: What role did budgeting play in survival for Alex and Morgan?
Budgeting played a very important role in the month that they had to live in poverty. Every penny counted, Alex even walked to work because she said that they couldn’t afford to waste $1.37 on the bus ride to her job. They lived paycheck to paycheck as it was so they couldn’t afford to buy unneeded things like the children easter baskets. It seemed easier for Alex to realize these things then it did for Morgan, at one point She even asked Morgan if he had ever needed to budget for anything.
9: Why do you think Alex became so emotional about the services that were given to her and Morgan at The Free Store?
I think she became emotional because she saw the good in the world while they were living in poverty and in a not so good neighborhood. They were struggling so hard on living without furniture because they couldn’t afford it. But they went to a free store and got all that they needed and even got a welcome gift from the person running the store. In such a bad situation, they saw a glimpse of hope.
